I would say it depends on your chips amount and many other things but to know if you're in danger calculate how many BB you can afford. If You have 5BB or less don't be slow to bet all-in, and if you have between 6 and 12BB try to steal some blinds to increase your chips amount and delay this red zone... But in other situations it really depends on your playing style and on your reading of the game...
